Lately food has been really savory for me (irl you couldn’t tell by that berry smoothie recipe could you?!) but I wanted to change it up a little and make a recipe that is low in sugar and carbohydrates but is also sweet. This sugar free protein acai bowl is perfect because it’s low in sugar but also rich in protein. I feel like for most of us fruit is so easily digested that we often feel hungry soon after eating it so I added protein to this bowl to keep your belly full for a decent amount of time!
So you might be asking yourself, “why the heck is there peanut butter in this?!” Well no need to worry I have an answer for you! This is a sugar free protein acai bowl! In order to make up for the lack of added sugar and low protein I added the peanut butter. Peanut butter is sweet and has a good amount of protein. Also, the saltyness of the peanut butter brings out the sweetness of the acai making it taste a lot more sweet than it really is!
I also added protein to this recipe by adding in some vital proteins collagen peptides! I love them because one, who doesn’t need more collagen, and two it adds more protein! BOOM! I meant it when I said this was going to be a PROTEIN acai bowl! Also the collagen makes the mixture more thick so eating it is more like eating ice cream than a soupy smoothie mess.
